Songs

By Ashley, Camp Rince Ceol 2004

These are call-and-answer songs based on the Moose Song (if I remember correctly) that Karen typically started off at Camp Rince Ceol 2004.

Each slash ( / ) signals the leader’s pause, where the audience sings the phrase back. At the end of each two-line verse, the entire verse is repeated by everyone.

"I lost my shoe / At a feis one day …"

I lost my shoe / At a feis one day
My little shoe / Must’ve run away

I looked and looked / But it was gone -
My favorite socks / Even said "so long"!

I wondered if / It was just me;
Why did I deserve / This mutiny?

So I talked to / My remaining shoe
But that dumb shoe / Didn’t have a clue

Then on a hunch / I smelled my feet
And from then on / I used Fabreeze!

"My solo dress / Is eight feet wide…"

My solo dress / Is eight feet wide
"Less is more" / Is not my guide

Forget technique / Or pretty feet
I’m not on time / I’m not on beat

I haven’t a clue / I can’t tell why
That silly first place / Keeps passing by

But after a feis / I figured it out
I betcha I know / What it’s all about

At my next feis / I'll reach new heights
I'll dress up with / electric lights!
